
I'm Bruno Verriest
Bruno Verriest (born 1950 – Kortrijk, Belgium) spent the greater part of his youth in Deerlijk in Belgium, where there is statue to Hugo Verriest, priest and poet, the brother of his great-grandfather.
After spending four years in the Latin-Greek section at the secondary school, Sint-Amandscollege in Kortrijk, he left Belgium for South Africa in 1966, at the age of almost 17, with his parents and his six brothers and sisters.
He obtained his Matriculation certificate at the Brothers of Charity College (College of the Little Flower) in 1968.
After qualifying as a dentist at the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg) in 1976 he spent almost 40 years practising general dentistry, the first years in Port Elizabeth, Oudtshoorn, Tzaneen (South Africa) and Romford (UK). Subsequently, he obtained an equivalent dental degree in Belgium in 1979 and practised there in the centre of Brussels until his retirement in 2015.
