I'm Denise Austin
Denise Austin was born in Port Elizabeth where she has lived for most of her life – excepting for six years out of town at Boarding School, and living in England for some years after her marriage to a British husband.
They returned to Port Elizabeth where they raised a daughter, Jennifer and two sons, Andrew and Greg.
Her Grandmother made a big impression on her and filled her young years with stories of Mafeking where Granny and her family had lived – including during the seven months of the Siege.
By the time that Covid-19 had raised its ugly head, Denise was a widow, living alone, and she decided to use the free time in Lockdown to write a story about Mafeking – something that she had for many years felt she would like to do.
