Madoda Ndlakuse was born in Mdantsane township in the early 1980s. He grew up in Port Elizabeth in the townships of Zwide and New Brighton and he is now a resident of Motherwell. He is Nobalisa, an organiser of educational initiatives, an indigenous language preserver and a writer who has already received several awards for his high-quality work. He has published several books and one of them won him the Nadine Gordimer Award for short stories at the South African Literary Awards in 2021. In 2022 he won two awards, starting with the PanSALB Multilingualism Award in Xhosa and also received the Litasa Significant Contribution to Literacy Award.
